Big News at Our House!!

I'll let the girls' shirts tell the news first...

It's official - We're expecting a baby in October!! We went for our 12 week appointment last week and were just relieved to hear a heartbeat. Jokingly, Rhett asked if it was a boy or a girl heartbeat. The doctor said she didn't believe in that and then said hold on a sec, she moved the wand around and said, "I wouldn't paint a room yet but I'm really good at this and that is obviously a boy!" Rhett and I were both shocked and thrilled!!!

We scrambled around after the appointment and put together a Big Sisters Party for the girls. Rhett came up with the idea of blowing up the ultrasound picture and spelling BOY on the wall. We got balloons and cookies.

After we picked them up from school we took them up to the playroom (that will become the nursery) and told them the news!

Here's the video of us telling the girls. My favorite parts: We were asking Vivian how she became a big sister and she responded - I minded! Addie asks at least 8 times if we can eat the cookies now and cheers when Vivi does!

There are times I think Addison understands pretty good and times when she still thinks we're all getting our own baby!?! Vivian has been precious and is taking it so well! The fact that it's a boy was by far her favorite part. She's been asking for a baby brother for quite a while!

Some Vivian highlights: Eating the cookies after the party she looks at me and says Mommy don't eat too much or my baby brother will get sick!

A little later she put her arm around Addie and said We're going to be good big sisters. We'll tell him not to say bad words or watch SpongeBob!

She came running downstairs the next morning and wanted to mark off the calendar and see how much longer until he was here. Then she checked my tummy to see if it was getting bigger!

We are definitely in for an adventure but couldn't feel more blessed! Thank you Father for the gift of this precious baby. I pray you would help him be healthy and continue to watch over him as we wait patiently for his October arrival!
